Its first competition came in the form of the Commercial Daily Advertiser which was started in 1845, but the two papers merged under the "Palladium" title in 1925. Though "The Palladium Times" has had many different corporate owners since it was privatized in 1966, the Sample News Group has owned and operated this historical paper since 2008.
